To wind the watch, the unit must be removed from its case. Remove the two flush screws from the rear of the case and slide the unit out. Insert a small screwdriver in the slotof the winding crown and wind as you would a watch. Use a screwdriver small enough to enable you to get the "feel? when the watch is fully wound. Do not use excessive force in winding. 2. Electrical Connections: The actuating signal is fed to the unit through the small coaxial jack on the front panel. All other electrical connections are made through the 14-connector socket on the front panel. Connections should be made to the numbered terminals as shown in print C74B-032. 3. Sensitivity Control: The sensitivity of the device is controlled by a small potentiometer mounted on the front panel. Removal of the round plate and gasket on the front panel will expose the screwdriver slot for adjusting the sensitivity. The sensitivity is best adjusted experimentally. Turning the control counter clockwise reduces the sensitivity; turning the control clockwise, increases the sensitivity. With this control in the fnlly clockwise position, it is extremely sensitive to small pulses and will trigger on pulses less than 50 millivolts in amplitude and as short as 5 microseconds. Turning the control counter clockwise will reduce the sensitivity so that pulses as great as 1 volt or more may be necessary to trigger the unit. The unit is designed to trigger only on negative going pulses. Power Supply: The unit is designed to operate on a nominal power supply of 6 volts direct current. 5. Running time for a cycle of operation can be set for 1-1/4, 2-1/2 or 5 minutes by adjustment of the "running time set switch." To adjust this switch, remove unit from case and locate switch on upper printed circuit board. Loosen the 6 screws which secure the switch plate and slide the plate to the proper position as shown in drawing C748-032. Retighten screws and replace in case. 6. CAUTION: The switching contacts in this unit are necessarily small. They are capable of handling the currents for which they were designed, but excessive currents and high voltages should be avoided in any tests or applications of this device. Proposed Improvements To SAD 1. Winding mechanism can be made accessible from front panel so that watch can be wound without removal from case if this is necessary or desirable. 2. Plate and gasket which cover access to sensitivity control can be replaced with a knurled cap as shown on Drawing B748-2001.
