SUBJECT: ( Informal Progress Report, RD-103
This letter constitutes the Fiftieth Monthly
Report, submitted in compliance with Contract RD-103, covering
the month of May, 1-960.
An estimate for converting the first and second
AS-5 Systems to AS-5A's was completed, and a proposal was prepared
and submitted covering this work.
A study was made concerning the type and length
of error checking test patterns which will be used for the transpond/
respond program. Results indicate that an all mark or RY test pattern
do not accurately predict the error rate for message data transmission
Transcontinental testing of this pattern will be
conducted during the next reporting period.
AS-6 DATA TELEMETERING SYSTEM
Volume one of two volumes of the final report was
sent to Washington for printing on May 11. Volume two should follow dur-
ing the next reporting period.
