1. The 39th meeting convened at 1400 hours and the minutes of the
38th meeting were approved.
Mr. Lacey asked where material requested by State Department on
East Germany would'appear and was informed that it is included in the East
European reports. He requested that under paragraph lb, "Internal Affairs"
an eighth category be added to cover departmental and local levels of
labor developments as requested by State Department. This addition will
be included in the program.
stated that this would be acceptable.
stated that it now appears that military information
will be limited and it would be easier for FDD to include political and
military information in one combined report. The Subcommittee members

25X1A9a 3. A proposed FDD program o was distributed to the
members. commented that industrial-agricultural information
was not included. The Acting Chairman stated that he would look into this
in time for review of the program at the next meeting.
4. Latin America.
Navy: Mr. Bauer stated that Navy had requested him to state
that Navy has limited facilities for ad hoc translation of Latin American
material. Navy?s needs for information on the area are satisfied from
other sources at this time.

Army; Mr. Bauer stated that FDD is now covering military
information on Bolivia and Paraquay and Army would like this continued.
in addition., Army desires the same type of coverage on the Dominican

time that is not being received from other sources.

Examination of the needs on Latin America having been concluded, a
proposed FDD program for Latin America is attached to these minutes as
Appendix B.
