SUBJECT : OTR History
At the meeting of the Support Services Historical Board on 26
October 1966, some tentative decisions were taken by the four
members. One of these decisions was that each Office would present
an outline of its plan for the official history covering the period from
the demise of OSS through 31 December 1966. Another decision was
to identify the titles of monographs or special papers that will be done
so that the flow of the chronological narrative will not be interrupted
by elaborate summaries of the special feature. There was the general
feeling that on-duty staff officers do not have the time to do the
chronologies so it is an accepted procedure to contract with annuitants
to do this. The monographs, however, will be written by staff officers
most closely associated with the activity or project.
The attached paper is a memorandum which I propose to submit
to the Chairman of the Support Services Historical Board. I have
identified the subjects and the writers. Will you add-.any particular
additional activities which you consider to be an integral part of the
development of OTR.
