firmed that a test link, using digital Laserfax, will be
installed between Qand Headquarters by 20 October 1976.
2. On 30 June, a contract in the amount of $553,249 was
awarded to Raytheon Data Systems Company, Norwood, Massachusetts,
for procurement of the first two wideband digital microwave
links of the Headquarters Area Transmission System (HATS).
These links will interconnect Head uarters and NPIC via a
repeater site at Included in the

delivery is scheduled for June 1977.
3. Plans and specifications for installation of a secure
voice and data grid at the Building were completed
this month and forwarded to GSA for implementation.
4. The first running of the CDS Pre-Acceptance Test
(PAT) was completed. This run-through of the PAT was an
effort on the part of Oto correct problem areas prior
to the formal PAT beginning. In a meeting with
Representatives on 29 July, we were informed there were 18
outstanding software problems. The first CDS VDU operator
course began on 6 July. The series of VDU training courses
will continue until early September. Q reported an
additional schedule slippage with final acceptance now
scheduled for approximately 1 November,
5. The AFT project moved along the first stages of soft-
ware design and system integration durin the month.

telephone consultant and a full-time systems analyst, the
addition of two fixed head discs to the system, restructuring
of the interdata computer operating system and disc driver,

monitoring of the bulk core development, and
the submission of bimont y sta us reports. A total of 5 3/4
months will be needed to complete these eight points. On
29 July, a letter containing the above mentioned points and
a new schedule was received from and accepted.

9. The contractor is progressing on the finish work
for the new 0 T-Site: Headquarters power engineers are
scheduled to arrive on site in early August to install the
power bus duct and complete the installation of the new
generators and switchgear. If all goes well, the plant
will be fully operational in September.

since they are too far out of the satellite antenna pattern

were received from ADC. After TF~I they will be shipped to
Quanta Systems completing the GFE for six first article RR-113
SKYMUX racks.
17. A sample PC card which provides keep-alive capability
for the 6515-1 was received. The field was informed that Collins
has converted to LED readouts on all new 6515-1's. A11 old
units in our system will be modified for LED's, and we are

examining the possibility of converting all units to the
new keep-alive circuit as well.
18. The audio lease between was checked
and did not meet specifications. The phone company is working
on this problem.
19. Thirty-eight modified TLC-1's have been received
from CED. They are being tested at and will be
shipped to the field.
20. Mr. returned from his survey of radiation
levels in South America.
21. Covert Engineering Division, Requirements Support
Branch, realigned its personnel and changed its procedure for
handling both .operational and engineering projects. The
objective is to increase their capability to respond more
readily to operational requirements and to reduce the impact
of operational requirements on each of the engineers.
22. July was an extremely busy month for operational
requirements. terminals and forty-eight pieces
of ancillary equipment were shipped compared to 0 and 120
respectively for the entire third quarter of last calendar
year. Thirty-nine SOR's and cables were completed in July
compared to a total of 70 for the entire quarter of last
year. The overdues on the suspense list hit a new low with
two overdues out of 35 operational requirements and one over-
due out of twelve non-operational requirements.
23. Two internal production projects were initiated this
month. Eleven CU-108 Control Units were requested, and 40
TA-7 alignment tools were produced. Additionally, two working
models of a miniature version of the SV-8 are being prepared
and an RS-200 microphone headset is being interfaced to the
SV-8. A preliminary action plan for the CU (X)-37 universal
control unit was prepared.
24. The Class A evaluation of the SOUTHCOM SC-130
tactical transceiver was completed in July. The evaluation
report is being prepared for forwarding to COD.
25. Preliminary preparation of bid packages for external
production of 75 RT-59A units was started in late July. The
first 50 RT-59A units are being produced in-house.

31. There was an increase in TECHREQ traffic and RJR
transactions this month with a total of 484 TECHREQS and
1,460 RJR transactions. Part of the RJR increase can be
attributed to the 0 crisis which accounted for six

32. The SG-75 A to B modification program was implemented
this month with the shipment of six modified units, four to

33. Mr. Engineering Tech, was trained
as an alternate TECHREQ Terminal Operator. The terminal is
now manned eight hours a day vice six with Mr. Q providing 25X1
coverage from 1430 to 1630 hours.
