ZAKI. Has an Abbas EGYPT
Hasan Abbas Zaki, Director General of the Office Exchange
Control Department of the National Bank of Egypt, is generally well
regarded for his knowledge and understanding of the cotton trade.
He has been useful to the Egyptian Government in its negotiations
with the United States on cotton trade policies and more recently
in negotiations with the British over blocked sterling accounts
and other economic problems. While no specific information is
available, his associations and career suggest that he may have
western orientation.
Zaki was born in 1917. In 1952 he was appointed Commercial
Secretary at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington and served in that
position until about the first part of 1955. No additional bio-
graphic information is available.
