SUBJECT: Transmittal of Study, Principal Aspects
of Socialism in Latin America
1. The attached study, prepared by the International
Communism Division of this Staff, describes the Latin
American Secretariat of the Socialist International and
the principal Socialist parties in Latin America. Particular
attention is given. in the study to Socialists who promote
Communist objectives, and to the closeness of certain Latin
American Socialist parties to the Communist line.. The study
was written for DDP use; it does not represent an official
U.S. Government position on Socialism in the countriesr
concerned.
