The attached study, prepared by the International
Communism Division of this Staff, describes the Latin
American Secretariat of the Socialist International and
the principal Socialist parties in Latin America.
Particular attention is given in the study to Socialists
who promote Communist objectives, and to the close-
ness of certain Latin American Socialist parties to
the Communist line. The study was written for DDP
use; it does not represent an official U.S. Government
position on Socialism in the countries'tconcerned.
