I explained that it was no big deal but we. thought we should let them know about it as a follow-up to our earlier briefing, I told them we could handle it over the phone and would have OER, call. them both. However, if they want more detail, we can arrange a briefing. 2. I I HEARINGS Took a call. from Walter Sheridan, on the staff of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on. Administrative Practice and Procedure. I told him that I had not yet gotten a, complete report on his inquiry about Agency drug testing activities. I will. call him as soon as I get the information. 3. INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING Took a call from Clark McFadden, Counsel on the staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee, who wanted some background on the NID article of 27 August 1975 cance n Soviet missiles and arms 1innitat:ion, I arranged ',for I lOCI, to call him to elaborate; oat. his interest. McFadden had-said that he was preparing a report for the Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Senator John Stennis (D., Miss.), to put this whole thing in perspective.. He wanted a briefing at 11:00 a. m. on 28 August 1975. 4. ILIAISON Called John Allen, Legislative Assista-pt to Representative o ert L. F. Sikes (D., Fla. ), to advise him tha as a. liar and that the FBI a record on him. Should he wish to pursue the matter, he could take A up with the Burea.u.. I told her I would put these in the mail to her along with a brochure outlining the maps available from the Government Printing Office. 8. (Unclassified - DFM) LEGISLATION I.n labsence, STAT took a call from Bill Jones, INR /State' Department, regarding the Agency's comments to OMB on the State Department position. on H. R. 1311. OMB bas sent our letter to the National Security Council for comments and the State and Instice Departments for information. Jones does not agree with the position in our letter, i. e. that the bill could be interpreted to prevent certain covert actions, but was unsure regarding how the State Department would respond.
