(Unclassified - RJK) A group of ten students a).-id one faculty member, Mr. Robert G. Anderson, from Presbyterian. College. Clinton, South Carolina, visited the Agency for a lecture by OTR, and lunch in the north cafeteria. The reaction on the part of both the students and Mr. Anderson to speech on the role of the Agency was extremely favorable. They said it was, the finest presentation they had received during their entire stay in Washington.. Don Matheson, on Senator Strom T.hurmond's (R. , , S. C.) staff, coordinated the plans for the students' visit. 2. (Internal Use Only - RJK) Bill Raiford, Congressional Research Service, T.ih_rarv of Congress, called to ask about his earlier request for organizational information on USIB. Having already confer-rcd: with Mr. John Dickey, USIB staff, I told Raiford that Senator Frank Church.'; (D., Ida.) Senate Select Committee To Study Governmental Operations With Respect to Intelligence Activities had requested this very sani.e infor n.-J'at:i,.or, and that this Agency felt his Committee had established. jurisdiction, for the time being at least,.in this area. Raiford said he could appreciate- our position but asked that we consider his request a standing request and. I said we would take this into consideration. I later spoke with General Thomas, IC staff, and provided him with details of the above and he advised me that Raiford had made a direct call to USIB for this inforrmation and he said further that his staff would make an appropriate response to, Raiford. 3. (Confidential -- LLM) Frank Slatinshek," Chief Counsel, 1-lousc- Armed Services Committee, called to schedule a budget hearing for the Special Subcommittee on Intelligence which was confirmed for 18 April at 1300 hours, lasting about two hours and covering both the Agency and community budgets.
