1. (Unclassified - WPB) LIAISON Called Allen Yuspeh, of Senator
Bennett Johnston's (D., La.) office, and told him_ that it was my understanding
as of Friday afternoon that the Director's briefing of the Senate Appropriations
Committee was being rescheduled.
2. (Unclassified - WPB) ADMINISTRATIVE - DEI_.IVERIES Dropped
off with Fred Iseman, of Senator Patrick Leahy's (D. , Vt. ) office, several.
Agency publications he had requested: China Atlas, Middle East Atlas, Soviet
Agriculture Atlas, Basic Intelligence Fact Book, and Handbook of Economic
Statistics.
3. (Confidential - WPB) LIAISON Called Dr. Richard Grimm.et:t, CRS
of the Librar of Con res and discussed with him the classified materials
*-IMF" 4 we were considering permitting him to review concerning Soviet intelligence
services. Later in the clay I told Grinamett that it appeared we would permit:
him to review the material in question under certain conditions and guidelines
which I set forth (See Memorandum for the Record). He said the conditions
were entirely satisfactory to him.
4. (Unclassified -- TIIW) LIAISON I spoke with Mary Lou Ian.ni,
in the office of Representative Charles A. Vanik (D. , Ohio), regarding
the Representative's request for information on the Agency's use of
tax return information. I told her I had tried to contact her Friday to
tell her that we had a response prepared and it was being coordinated
and hoped to have it out by close of business 8 December. She said
that she felt that this would be fine and would so advise the staff
members working on the matter.
