10. Tom Lattimer, Special Assistant to
the Secretary of Defense, called with respect to our proposed response
on H. Res. 205 which was sent to him earlier in. the day. He indicated,
that it looked good to them.
11. Called J. Sourwine, Chief Counsel,
Subcommittee on Internal Security, , in
response to his earlier inquiry and told him we had no unique information
and suggested he might: want to contact the FBI.
13. Called Les Janka, NSC staff,
to advise him of the status of play on H. Res. 205 and although I had sent
him on 25 February a copy of the Director's proposed reply to Chairman
Melvin Price, House Armed Services Committee, he had lost sight of the
fact that Agency views had been solicited on this resolution. I told Janka
that I would send him a proposed revised reply based upon Counsel to the
President Areeda's, revised letter to Chairman Thomas Morgan., House
Foreign Affairs Committee. Janka promised to get the draft cleared for us
before the end of the day.
Janka called later in the afternoon to say he had not received a copy
of our revised proposed reply on the resolution as promised above.. After
checking, it was determined that the White House Situation room had. received
the material at 12:17 p.. in. Janka was somewhat embarrassed and said he had
checked into the Situation Room and somewhat jokingly said we share the
blame since the communicators are Agency people.
Subsequently, Janka called and said he had reviewed the proposed
reply with General Scowcroft, Deputy Assistant to the President for National
Security Affairs. who ok'd it and tha VRichar -Frio. land DOD, had as well.

OCI, has been advised.
4. Called Les Janka, NSC staff, and
informed him that we were in receipt of a request from Ch-airman. Melvin
Price, House Armed Services Committee, to comment on bI Res 205,
directing the Secretary of Defense to provide certain information relating.
to Chile. Janka said they had just focused on this resolution and believes
they would want to handle it in a manner consistent with the handling of
House Resolutions 206 and 207 by Mr. Marsh, White House, and Mr..
McCloskey, State, yesterday. It was agreed that we would not do anything
further until we hear from him and that he would let us know the outcome-
hopefully before the end of the day.
In response to his request on behalf of General Scowcroft, copies
of S Res 21 and H Res 138 were LDX'd to Janka.
