15. (Internal Use Only - LLM) LIAISON In follow-up of
a call placed by Mr.. Cary, spoke with John Maury, Department of
Defense (Legislative Affairs), about appropriations and DOD's position
insofar as it may relate to areas of interest to the intelligence community
and the Agency.
16. (Internal Use Only - LLM) LIAISON Frank Slatinshek,
Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, called to request
a briefing for Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Special Subcommittee on Intelligence,
in connection with his travel next week to South Korea to participate
in the Veterans Day ceremonies.
. Later in the day, I met with Slatinshek and provided him data
he had requested.
17. (Unclassified - LLM) AGENCY VISIT Representative Samuel
Stratton (D., N. Y.) called about his session tomorrow with the Latin
American Division chiefs of Stations and I told him that: it would be
most helpful if he could give them a view of CIA as seen from the
congressional viewpoint.
18. (Unclassified -- BAA) EMPLOYMENT REQUESTS Received
a call from Twinkle Thomas, in the office of Senator Barry Goldwater
(R., Ariz.), requesting that applications, brochures, and a possible
interview he set up for a

that I would pass this on to our Office of Personnel.

interviewing the present Chief, BAB/OTS. I told hire it was my under-
standing that a decision had been made Friday that he not. be made

to the DCI, number and suggested that Tom LSu.sman, Chief Counsel of
the Subcommittee, call him and discuss the Age lcy's position in this

sation with Tom Susman and Jim Michie, both of th- enate Judiciary
Subcommittee on Administrative Practice, and Procedure. staff. They
were very insistent that we produce the Chief of BAB, . OTS so .that they could
interview him on the destruction of records concerning human experimentation.

called for the exact language we added to the transmittal letters to the
Congress for the Agency's proposal to delete the one percent acid-on from
each cost-of-living increase. I read her the paragraph and informed her

earlier in the day.

on International Political and Military Affairs, Committee on International
Relations, regarding the request from the Subcommittee for documents
related to Mayaguez. (See Memo for the Record. )
