MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Telephone Conversation with Mr.
1. On 22 October, I telephoned from
California to say that he had again been contacted by Mr. James
Michie of the Staff for the Subcommittee on Administrative Practices
and Procedures headed by Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Mr. Michie
explained to that they did not have sufficient funds
to pay for his travel to Was ington to testify but that the Subcommittee
was anxious to ask questions about activities which
occurred when he was employed by the CIA. .
2. The. purpose of call was his concern with
regard to his Secrecy Agreement and that he did not wish to discuss
the questions over the telephone with Mr. Michie.. I suggested that
tell Mr. Michie. that he, would.be willing
to answer questions if they were put in writing and copies sent to
CIA for their review. was agreeable to this suggestion
and said he would pass this on to Mr. Michie.
3. stated that Mr. Michie. told him that Michie
had been advised by and
that he, Michie, had been granted a "secret" clearance.
4. I Iwas told that the Subcommittee was scheduling
hearings in early November and, therefore, was anxious to get material
together for. those hearings.
