C. 20505 Executive Registry VL1)h 0 Dear Mr. Colby: At the direction of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Richard M. Moose and Charles F. Meissner of the Committee staff will be traveling to Southeast Asia, departing Washington about April 3, for a period of approximately one week to ten days. The Committee has asked Messrs. Moose and Meissner for an up-to-date examination of the political, economic, military and refugee situations in Vietnam and Cambodia. As in the past, we would appreciate the full cooperation of the Central Intelligence Agency in helping arrange Executive Branch briefings in Washington, briefings in the field and appointments for Messrs. Moose and Meissner. Their desires with regard to these matters will be provided to your staff. We are writing to the Secretaries of State and Defense asking them to designate an officer of their Department to coordinate these arrangements. It would be appreciated if you could also designate someone in the Central Intelligence Agency to assist in this task. Upon their return from this trip, Messrs. Moose and Meissner will be asked to prepare a classified report for the Committee. In the event Committee members subsequently decide to issue a public version of their report, we will consult with the Executive Branch, as in the past, to ensure adequate protection for information affecting the national security.
