DIARY NOTES
DD/S 1 April 1971
DCI Portrait: On this date I confirmed with Mr. Houston the plan
for Mr. Draper. He said that as far as he knows Mr. Draper will
arrive in Washington on the evening of 5 April and will come into the
building on the morning of 6 April to begin working. I told Mr. Houston
that I felt that it might be a bit awkward to have Mr. Draper use the
Executive Dining Room since it would lead to a considerably wider
knowledge of his mission than I understood to be desired. I counter
suggested that perhaps General Counsel and Support Staff people might
plan to take Mr. Draper to lunch, for example, in the Rendezvous Room.
Mr. Houston agreed that the Executive Dining Room was not a major
consideration but pointed out that he might well take Mr. Draper as a
guest and that he felt that with the number of friends Mr. Draper has in
the Agency and around Washington his presence and his mission would
probably be quite widely known. I also talked to Mr. Osborn and he will
review and arrange necessary badging to facilitate Mr. Draper's access
to the building.
I arranged to look at the space with on 2 April and ag5X1A
that time will lay on the arrangements for platform, anti-glare protection,
furniture adjustments, etc.
