DIARY NOTES
1. At the Executive Committee Meeting this morning the Director re-
minded me of his interest in using o assist us with our
recruitment efforts. When ed that our local regional recruiter had
been in touch with the Director said that he would like
o organize a regional approach to recruiting and perhaps
advise us on how we might organize other regions of the United States in
the same way with other heading them. (I talked with
Emmett Echols, and at the moment I am not sure how this will work out.
It is evident that we will have to take some additional action to that which
we have already taken regarding
2. I spent a couple of hours this afternoon being briefed by BPAM, and
in general I was very impressed with the work they are doing.

3. The Director has located a house at
in which he is very interested. It is being handled
!y thee Holly Realty Company; agent, Mrs. Staymer. At the Director's re-
quest I contacted Mr. Bergmann at the Riggs National Bank and asked him
to have someone appraise the house. He telephoned later in the day to say
that the house had been appraised and that it would be a good buy at the
asking price of $62, 500. He also thought that this was a good neighborhood
and that real estate there would probably appreciate. He said that Riggs
would arrange a twenty-five-year mortgage for $50, 000 at 5 percent inter-
est, which would require monthly payments of $292.50. They would also
be happy to talk with the Admiral about a loan for the additional $12, 500.
I relayed this information to Admiral Raborn and am awaiting further in-
structions.
4. telephoned to say that he was very pleased to receive
the renewa of his consultant contract and that he would sign it. He wanted
to be assured that I really wanted him for another year. I told him that I
thought his usefulness might be even greater this year since Bob Bannerman
will not be able to devote as much time to the project next year as he has
during the past year. He was obviously pleased that we still want him. He
said that he would be at Cape Cod for the summer and would plan to attend
the September Board Meeting in New York City.
