1. At the Executive Committee Meeting this morning:
1July 1964
a. It was confirmed that the Director will go to the Bureau of the
Budget next Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 and 8 July. Apparently on one
day he will discuss the Agency's budget and five-year projection, and
on the other he will meet with the Director of the Bureau of the Budget
and other agency heads.
b. Mr. Kirkpatrick announced that, through the cooperation of
those who have printing requirements, we had effected a reduction in
our printing load, which makes the Printing Services Division's request
for 30 people unnecessary. In this connection, Bud Wheelon said that
the Office of Basic Intelligence has been doing some experimenting with
computers which he thought might reduce the OBI printing load by as
much as 30 percent.
2. I talked to about the state of cleanliness in the Direc- 25X1A9a
tor's suite in the East Building and asked him to see that this is straightened
out without delay.
3. telephoned to say that upon his doctor's advice he was
going to remain home until 6 July.
4. Bob Fuchs telephoned to request permission to have the Office of
Finance change its working hours to 0830 to 1700 hours after it moves to
2430 E Street. I approved.
5. I talked with Bob Ayers about having Government Services, Inc.,
run a barbershop in the Headquarters building on a profit-sharin basis.
He thought that this could be worked out, and I arranged for
to have a talk with him.
6. gave me a very interesting briefing on the Psychiatric
Staff .

7. 1 lunched with Shef Edwards, Howard Osborn, and 25X9A8
who has a job at NSA roughly comparable to mine.

8. Jack Earman buzzed to say that in the light of current troubles in the
Medical Staff he was hesitant to brief Dr. Tietjen on the exit interview the IG
Staff had with I said that I was inclined to agree with this.
