DIARY NOTES
1. I have arranged with for General Carter's trip to-
on Wednesday, 16 June. We will leave shortly after lunch, spend the afternoon there,
and, hopefully, go fishing on the way back.

CAT. I thought it went quite we eneral Carter appeared very interested and
expressed a desire to learn more about the company as time permits.

3. advised me that he was sending rather strong memoranda
to his area chiefs about their responsibility for notifying him of any employees or
families of employees who did not get along well at their stations. He was prompted
to do this because he recently discovered four or five cases in which families have
been transferred laterally when, had he known that they were not well adjusted, he
would have brought them home. I encouraged him to send these memoranda and told
him that I would support him completely in this effort.
4. I reviewed the "flag" cases of Messrs.
and Dr. Tietjen. In the cases of
