1 ? telephoned to say that Howard Preston and were
accept le to him as Chief and Deputy Chief of Support for Tas orce W. He
requested, however, that Vince be brought home as soon as possible in order to
provide the necessary continuity.
2. I approved of Shef Edwards taking leave from this week end (19 May) until
5 June. Shef advised me that the agreement with NRO has been signed and that it
does have real security implications for us. He was reviewing it and will brief
me at an early date. Shef also acknowledged receipt of my inquiry about the 24-
hour guard post in the basement. He is studying the problem and will come up
with a recommendation very soon.
3. I lunched with members of the CAT Board. General Carter was host, and
I believe he made a very good impression on the entire group.
4. talked to me about the possibility of assigning Mr.
to the IG staff. I told him that I did not believe I could
recommend them in good conscience.
