c. I told- that Pat Coyne had been critical about the Chief of
Station's house in_ being too plush and that he had expressed this
criticism to Lyman Kirkpatrick. I suggested that when he has VIP visitors
in the future, he should point out some of the inadequacies of the house, as
well as its nicer features.
3. I met with Mr. McCone this morning per his request and discussed a few items:
a. Mr. McCone inquired as to how the building was progressing.
I told him that we were going to start our move on 19 February, that the
contractor had agreed to give priority attention to the space for the Records
Integration Division, and that I felt it would be ready in time to meet our

him to refer this matter to the Career Council.
7. Jim Garrison called to say that he was having trouble in the procurement of
new cars with the $1,500 legal limitation imposed, since we could not buy Fords, Chevro-
lets, or Plymouths for this price. He understood that the General Services Administration
was going to ask Congress to raise the legal limitation. I told him to support GSA in this
in whatever way that he could. In order to supply a good station wagon to the DCI Security
Staff, I authorized Jim to take one out of stock which was purchased with confidential funds.

8. Stan Grogan was up to tell me that he had had a conference with the Director
at which time he had discussed the case of who wanted to run for office in
some local municipality. According to Stan the Director was firm in his decision that
CIA employees could not run for office. Inasmuch as the Office of Security has approved
this case and Larry Houston now has it for consideration, I should pass this on to them
without delay.
