1. Met with Ed Saunders, of the Finance
Division to discuss the Comptro er s semiannual report on the "evaluation of
Class A and B stations." It was apparent from our discussion that this report is
serving a useful purpose and that the situation at all stations, almost without ex-
ception, continues to improve. I asked them to see if they couldn't work out
more meaningful comment for the last column in this paper and particularly
asked Ken to make sure that the Chief of the NEA Division understood that the NEA
stations generally were not evaluated as high as other stations in the Agency.
2. Jim Cunningham telephoned to say that he was about to approve of the ex-
penditure of $8, 000 for the purchase of air conditioners (in bedrooms only) for
25X1A6a their off-base housing twenty-one houses were involved. I told him
that I saw no objection to is.
3. telephoned to say that he was sending me a very confi -
dential dispatch which he had just received from indicating that there was 25X1A6a
trouble between
