DIARY NOTES
25X1AJA
19 August 1953
1. Discussed with a number of minor revisions that will have
to be made in the budget estimates of the DD/A components. I think that they
can all be adjusted; however, the excess money will have to come from the In-
terim Assignment Branch of the Personnel Office.
2. was up to say that General Cabeil expected in due time
a recommendation from this Office on the use of cars, i.e., whether they are
25X1A9a'ate from the pool or be assigned to the various offices. I told Colonel
that a study of the entire matter was in process and that we would pre-
sent a recommendation within a reasonable period of time.

the SR Division was approved in principle.
25X1A9a 6. Office of Training, was up to find a solution to the
problem of reimbursement to the military for the training of draftees wham we
put into Officer Candidate School and who later return to CIA. The services
now want us to reimburse for these individuals effective on the dates of their
commissions. I told Bill that I thought we could avoid reimbursement before
the men actually reported for duty with us but that he should, however, draft
a paper stating the problem and maldng certain recommendations, after which
the Comptroller and I would resolve the matter with the proper people in the
Defense Department.
25X1 A9a 7. also wants to make some arrangements for the shipment of
25X1 A6a private automobiles to personnel
stationed there for the storage of their furniture. I told him that these re-
quests presented difficulties and asked him to wrap them up in a memorandum
which we could study.
