Department had asked our permission to pass to several people on the Hi
copies of an A en telligence memorandum oni
I suggested to that they determine which members of Congress were
involved and we would then give them an answer. He said he would do this.

the Headquarters' location for use by the Senator's breakfast group which is
scheduled for 27 April 1972.
4. - JGO) Met with Mr. Drury Blair, Senate Immigration
and Naturalization Subcommittee staff, who told me has had no queries
about since the bill was
placed in pending status. See Journal of 3 February 1972
5. 1 1 JGO) Met with Ralph Preston, House Appropriations
Committee staff, who told me that the Committee schedule has his time
committed through the middle of next week. He does want to visit Headquarters
for review of the Agency budget book and will try to schedule Thursday or
Friday, 27 or 28 April, to meet with us. Mr. Briggs, OPPB, has been advised.

I talked with Jim Cline, Counsel, House Committee on Judiciary, ointin

out that simply will not accept the fact that the

bill is dead. My query to Cline was, what would Cline tell we here 25x1
at the Agency referred to Cline. Cline said he would tell him that the 25x1
bill is dead, that there is no good precedent and that similar cases have been
turned down.

11. - JMM) George Carver, SAVA, and I met with
Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Representative Melvin Price and Counsel Frank
Slatinshek, Intelligence Subcommittee of House Armed Services, in :response
to their request for a briefing. I provided a short rundown of developments
since the Director's briefing of the Committee on 8 February and Mr. Carver
covered in some depth the current situation in Indochina. Characteristically
Mr. Nedzi asked a number of thoughtful and probing questions and seemed
satisfied with Mr. Carver's answers. See Memo for Record.
