OFFICE OF LEGISLATNE COUNSEL
Tuesday - 11 September 1973
1. (Secret -JMM) Made several calls throughout the day to
Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Intelligence Subcommittee, House Armed Services
C'.n?~,,,,;ttPP_ keening him abreast of developments regarding Chile.
2. (Secret - JMM) During the day made several calls to Ed Braswell
(Chief Counsel, Senate Armed Services Committee), Frank Slatinshek (Chief
Counsel, House Armed Services Committee), Guy McConnell (Clerk, Senate
Appropriations Committee) and Ralph Preston (Senior Staff Member, House
Appropriations Committee), keeping them informed on developments in Chile.
3. (Unclassified -JMM) Called the office of Representative Edward
Derwinski anti, in his absence, left word for him to call me back at his
convenience regarding the briefing he requested for himself and Senator
Robert Stafford concerning their possible attendance at the Interparliarnentary
Union session in Santiago.
9:. (Secret - GLC) Met briefly with Ed Braswell, Senate Armed
Services Committee staff, and left with him copies of Volumes I and II
of the OSR publication on Soviet Defense Expenditures. There is a chance
that an amendment restricting CIA's domestic activities will be offered to the
military procurement bill when it comes up for action on the Senate floor
and he would like a talking paper from us on this subject for the Chairman's
use in the event such an amendment is offered.
At his request, met with Jack Titer, Senate Armed Services Committee
staff. He gave me a copy of the page proofs of the Colby confirmation hearings
and asked if we would check on several items in the transcript which appeared
to be incomplete or required correction. I told him that we would review the
transcript, correct these items and have it back to him in the next few days.
