to a meeting with Mr. Michael Finley, Inter- merican Affairs Subcommittee
staff of House Foreign Affairs Committee. Mr. Finley will be accompanying
Chairman Dante Fascell (D. , Fla.) who will be travelling to a meeting of
the Latin American Parliament in Guatemala City this coming week.
Mr. Flannery gave Mr. Finley a general overview of the political climate
in Guatemala with-a brief rundown on the status of various insurgency forces
and governmental security forces. It was suggested that Ret)resentative

Mr. Finley told us that he would like to alert the Agency to the fact
that Fascell will desire an off-the-record briefing on Latin America for the
Subcommittee early in the upcoming session of Congress. Mr. Finley
will contact us further on this matter after he returns from this trip.
