Thursday - 26 April 1973
1. (Internal Use Only - JGO) As a followup to his earlier call,
I met with Jay Sourwine, Chief Counsel, Senate Internal Security
Subcommittee, and received from him a copy of The Scott Report of
2. (Secret - JGO) Met with Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel,
House Armed Services Committee, and delivered to him a copy of the
National Intelligence Program Appro riations for FY 1972, 1973, and 1974
dated 23 February and prepared b IC. See Memorandum STATINTL
for the Record. has been a vise .
3. (Secret - JGO) Met with Ralph Preston, House Appropriations
Committee staff, and gave him a copy of the National Intelligence Program
Appropriations for FY 1972, 1973, and 1974 dated 23 February 1973 and
brought him up-to-date on the tentative schedule for Appropriations briefings
in the Senate. Preston told me that the House schedule is so overloaded at
the present time that he cannot forecast at this moment when the Committee
might be ready to hear the Director or when he himself can get away for
a staff briefing on the budgets.
I briefed Preston on several current intelligence items. See
Memorandum for the Record.
4. (Secret - JGO) Met with James Wilson, House Science and
Astronautics Committee staff, and briefed him on Salyut 2. Wilson took the
occasion to introduce me to Jack Swigert, Staff Director for the Committee,
who just reported today for full-time duty.
