4. (Confidential - GLC) Picked up from the Senate Armed Services
Committee two copies of the transcript of the Director's appearance before
the Committee on the proposal to increase the CIARDS retirement quota. We
are to sanitize this transcript far publication and return it to the Committee.
I also obtained copies of the bill as reported by the Committee and the
Committee Report.
5. (Unclassified - JGO) Received a call from Lynn Burns, Caseworker
in the office of Representative Robert Kastenmeier (D. , Wis. ),who requested
application forms for Agency employment for a constituent.
6. (Unclassified - JGO) Received a call from Bruce Merkle, Administra-
tive Assistant to Representative William Bray (R. , Ind. ), who asked if we
would see what had happened to Bray's subscription to FBIS reports. For some
reason none have been received in the last several weeks.
FBIS, has been advised.

7. (Confidential - JGO) Talked to Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel,
House Armed Services Committee, and alerted him to an Agency personnel
matter reported in the Sunday New York Times. Slatinshek is basically
relaxed about this case. Angus Thuermer, Assistant to the Director, has
been advised.
8. (Internal Use Only - PLC) Picked up for NARCOG a transcript
of the testimony on 4 April 1973 by the Attorney General, Ole of M nage-
_ m ~r wand Bud et, and Commissioner of Customs before the ubcommittee
? on Legis ative and Military Operations of the House Committee on Govern-
ment Operations. The hearing concerned the President's reorganization
plan number 2 of 73 to consolidate drug law enforcement activities.

The list was prepared as the result of a call Costick made on
29 March. Blackburn has not yet called me in response to the call that I
placed to him on 29 March 1973. Costick had called me on 28 March
in behalf of Blackburn requesting all classified Agency publications on
Soviet-U.S. trade. (See Journals for 28, 29 March 1973)
