8. (Confidential - JGO) Met with William Phillips, Staff Director,
Subcommittee on Foreign Operations and Government Information, House
Government Operations Committee, and delivered to him Mr. Colby's
letter concerning public information activities. In keeping with our previous
discussion, Phillips agreed that the letter is satisfactory. As an aside, he
told me that the Committee plans later in the year to update the very
extensive hearings on polygraph that were conducted some eight years ago.
They intend to look into the new equipment state of the art and utilization of
the new equipment in the Federal Government. So far there has been no
specific plans for the hearings. Phillips said he would keep me advised as
the 'matter progressed.
9. (Confidential - JGO) Met with Mike Van Dusen, Near East and
South Asia Subcommittee staff, House Foreign Affairs Committee, and
discussed with him the briefing outline and security arrangements for
tomorrow's briefing of the Subcommittee by Bruce Clarke, D/OSR. The
meeting will be at 2:00 p. m. in room H-227 in the Capitol. Bruce Clarke
has been advised. 25X1A
