We agreed to provide a briefing documentation prepared in coordination with the Pentagon on the status of the Soviet ICBM program, and oversized charts which could be used in a presentation by Senator Jackson before the full Senate in a secret session on Tuesday. Representatives of the Department of Defense and Senator Jackson's staff were also present at these meetings. ` 3. JGO) Received a call from Mike Finley, Inter-American Affairs Subcommittee staff, tE-Iouse Foreign Affairs Committee, who told me that announcement would probably be made during the day tomorrow by Chairman Fascell that the Foreign Affairs Committee will be going into extensive hearings on Chile. He is exploring informally whether testimony might be received from the Agency on operations in Chile before final approval for hearings is requested from Chairman Morgan, of the full Committee.
