1. Today I met separately with Ralph Preston and Frank Slatinshek
and brought them up-to-date on a number of current intelligence items
including:
a. Chinese preparations for a sea test of an SLBM;
b. The existence of Soviet Scuds in Egypt;
c.
d. Chinese expansion of their submarine fleet;
e. Evidence that some Soviet airborne garrisons were
alerted during the Arab/Israeli hostilities;
f. Irags receipt of SU-17 Fitter Bs from the USSR;
