Detachment "g's" role in prototype, production, and product Improvement technical testing efforts for a three year period is summarized in Attachment I to this letter. As shown, the number of sorties flown by Detachment "G" In support of improved Intelligence gathering systems, and aircraft defensive systems for operational application at Detachment "H" equates to a significant percentage of the Detachment's flying schedule. 2. Detachment "G" also performs as a lateral supply point and transhipment agent for all pyrotechnics, J75-13 ;jet engines, critical assets and parachutes used by Detachment "H". Those services Include necessary packaging, crating, and storing as well as physical movement. Closely related to Detachment "G's" transhipment role Is the support provided by the Security Staff to Detachment "H". 3. At the present time, there are two staff Security Officers and four security assistants stationed at Detachment "G". While the great majority of their day-to-day duties is concerned primarily with security responsibilities for their Detachment, on numerous occasions they become either directly or indirectly involved in security support matters for Detachment "H". Specific examples of such support are: IDEALIST SECRET i mposs_ihlo_ to._ Dete rmi ne_ (an!t-s I posstble, insert date or event) Approved For Release 2007/09/25: CIA-RDP75B00326R000100100001-2 Approved For Release 2007/09/25: CIA-RDP75B00326R000100100001-2 SECRET IDEALIST IDEA-0192-72 Page 2 a. On arrival, he Is normally hold over to provide escort service for classified Items being returned to CONUS. c. Security support services for any Driver undergoing survival (parasal1, seacoast, or desert) training are usually provided by Detachment "G" security personnel. 4. Detachment "G's" contributions have been instrumental In the success of Detachment "H's" mission, and in providing a quality product to users within the intelligence Community. Should the Detachment's role be reduced, or eliminated certain of these services could probably be accommodated as follows: a. Technical testing, similar In scope as outlined in Attachment 1, would be accomplished In CONUS at 25X1 Eglin AFB (or similar military Installation). Detachment has neither the required equipment nor the quality of weather required to accomplish this type mission. b. Supply support and transhipment activities would be conducted directly between Detachment "H" and the Air Force Depot. c.
