SUBJECT: Ed M. Letter 28 February 1966
1 With regard to your question on the oxygen entry fitting on the
S901J helmet, we enclose an assembly drawing of the current
design and a sketch of a proposed design which we believe will
satisfy your feeling that the lower portion of the block should be
secured to the helmet shell.
Floyd has indicated that we can review the proposed design and
if we concur we can submit an ECP and get the new design
instituted in the production line soon thereafter. The proposed
design takes into account that some helmets will have to be
refitted.
2. Two sample "O" rings made of "Omni" compound are also enclosed
in response to your request.
If the size checks out O. K. and you need more, please let me know.
3. With regard to the sample materials of suit cross-section, I would
like to defer submission of samples until we discuss the test
program in .more detail.
Based on a discussion with headquarters people concerning our
development program, on 8 March 1966, they felt that we all
should get together and review the task. The schedule for getting
together seems to be shaping up for next week.
