Conference Between Dr. John R. Tietjen and Mr. John Paran sky

1. Mr. Parangosky briefed Dr. Tietjen on current status of OXCART and
IDEALIST Programs.
a. OXCART aircraft are being returned from overseas deployment in
early June. Project is being discontinued with USAF aircraft takin
over re onsibilities. Aircraft are to be mothballed at either 25X1
or II They are to be kept in condition to be returned to flight
line if necessary (considered unlikely). Termination is to be accom-
plished by end of September 1968.

Carrier program is to be continued by way of a bi-annual
training operation with the USN. This is deemed adequate to maintain
the capability.
3. rooosed that consideration be given to offering an
Agency contract to who is in charge of Personal Equipment
at Edwards and has been since 1956. He is a most knowledgeable and conscien-
tious mien and is retiring from the Air Force in September 1969. There is no
one in his capacity in the Agency and it is believed that we should have our
own capability in this department who would be available Agency-wide to
inspect and advise on oxygen systems. Mr. Parangosky requested that Dr.
see him at a later date on this subject.

4. Dr. Tietjen briefly reviewed training of I I since assignment
to his office and inquired as to whether Mr. Parangos any further recom-
mendations and Mr. Parangosky suggested that he would appreciate 25X1
becoming familiar with survival program and perhaps taking a Jungle training
trip to ascertain that the pilots were not being over stressed.

A space has been reserved for you in the Aerospace
Medicine, Primary, class for the period 26 February
through 29 March 1968. Funds to defray expenses inci-
dent to travel and course attendance must be arranged
by you or your unit of employment.
Prior to entering the course, you should undergo a
current physical examination to determine your quali-
fication for Class III flying. For your information,
the requirements for a Class III flying physical exami-
nation are outlined in Air Force Manual 160-1. You
should complete the examination, have it recorded on
Standard Form 88, Report of Medical Examination, and
Standard Form 89, Report of Medical History, and carry
two copies of the reports with you to the course. This
is necessary to determine your suitability to partici-
pate in all p.h .ses of the trainine. MAR

You should report for the course by 0730 hours, 26 Febru-
ary 1968, to the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks
Air Force Base, Texas 78235. Quarters arrangements will
be made for you during the period of training.
