A meeting was held at DDP, Headquarter's 25X1A Building 4 February 1971 on Survival Radios. Office of Communications Division (CD) attended the meeting. 2. The purpose of this meeting was to improve the present survival radio, ASR-100, and to discuss a replacement radio for the ASR-100A. 3. Improvement for ASR-100: a. All ASR 100's be upgraded to ASR-100A b. Solid battery pack to replace pen-light batteries. 4. It was agreed that all ASR-100A's be phased out in the next three to five years and be replaced with a better radio. The technical features of the replacement radio was discussed in detail. Inquiries were made by phone to the upgrading of the ASR 100 and replacement radio. There was very little being accomplished and the program was almost at a standstill`. 6. On 27 January 1972 again for follow-up on the ASR 100 and new radio, mainly to check on the solid battery pack for the ASR 100A.
