Approved Felease 2005/02/10: CIA-RDP75B000 R000400040056-3 0-36-600327- - 15 September 1966 TYPE II SYST1EM CONTRACT 0-TM-483 Subject: Use of UTB (SO-380) Reference: In-House Investigation With the development of UTB material the capability of the Type II configuration to handle this material has been investigated. The basic Type II package film transport system will handle UTB material satisfactorily. However, the thinner base material does present the following problems: 1. If weight of the film rolls change from 63 pounds/roll ? 5 pounds, then the stabilizer knuckle must be redesigned to relocate the CG of the configuration. 2. For full rolls of UTB (8100 ft. max.) the supply spindle must be redesigned to provide constant tension. 3. The focus position will change by 0.001 inch which will require a readjustment of the auto focus grid assembly. UTB can be handled in the Type II system but will necessitate the above changes which may be considered major. As the present thin base material load provides package operating time in excess of the planned mission photo time, it is recommended that we do not make the changes required to handle UTB material.
