.CIA on the Jo
ENATUR MILTON L. YOUNU . U), one
of the few outside the Central Intelligence
Agency who are well informed on its necessarily
secretive operations, reveals that our spy system
:abroad includes Communist Party officials.
. Since Red leaders are not laggard in this
furtive field, it may be presumed their activities
have not overlooked Free World political echelons
as possible channels of ihformation.
Espionage is not a nice profession, but a vital
one. The doable-cross and triple-cross are
stock-in-trade among some of its practitioners.
Thus, it may be that some of the Communist offi-
cials assumed to be our undercover: agents are,
in fact, plants. On the other hand, it may be
they really give tongue-in-cheek loyalty to corn-
munism.and do provide us the assistance we seek.'
It is a confusing guessing game. The CIA
'ias shown it is alert and touches all bases.
