JUN 1 6 1966 Approved for Release. 2005/01/05: CIA-RDP75-0 JULIUS ROTRKOPF, FREE-EUROPE AIDE. trog09o003. economics Expert, 69, Dies' -Had Fled From Nazis Julius Rothkopf, a Yugosla) economics expert and a former member of the staff of Radio Free Europe, died Tuesday at his home, 156-08 Riverside Drive West. He was 69 years old. Dr. Rothkopf had been a noted jurist before coming to this country. He served Radio Free Europe as a script-writer and an expert on Yugoslav' eco nomic affairs from 1950 until his. retirement in 1963. He was, lalso national editor of East Eu rope magazine, a monthly pub- lished by Free Europe Commit-' tee, Inc, He was born in Sarajevo,- which was then an Austrian city, On' graduating from the law school of the University of, Vienna, he joined his father's law offices. When the Nazis invaded Yugo-1 slavia in 1941, he and his wife, the former Zora Ilic, a judge in the Federal Supreme Court of Sarajevo, escaped to Italy. They were interned there during World War II and came to the United States in 1949.
