HOY EDITORIAL: U.S. USES ORIT AGAINS^ CIJ?A
Havana Domestic Service in Spanish 1230 GMT 10 February 1965--F
(Summary) After all the other measures by the United States to prevent international
trade with Cuba failed to yield results, the Yankee ruler- '.:ave resorted to another
agency, the ORIT, to carry out their dirty anti-Cuban plans. "The anti-Cuban
statements of the ORIT and its Yankee and Latin American Mujals (1Qujal is a
Cuban traitor to. the Castro cause--Ed.) in the meeting they just held in Mexico are
added to what has been done by the OAS and what has been organized by the CIA with
its assassins, saboteurs, spies, and pirates. From the point of view of dependence,
there can be no distinction between the OAS, the CIA, and the ORIT." The.ORIT is.
nothing other thaAA the trade union apparatus of the Department~of State, used for.
intervening, dividing, and-corrupting Latin American -trade union"organizations
that it can penetrate. The mother of ORIT is the prostituted and enriched leadership
of the AFL-CIO, which, in obedience to the orders of the Yankee authorities, initiated`'
that agency to break up the growing unity of the Latin American workers against
imperialism, for national liberation, and for working class economic, political, and
social demands--a unity which developed around the CETAL beginning in 1959 and which
today, in a different stage, seeks an organization that will unite and coordinate-the
trade union movements of all Latin .America on new bases,
"The OBIT came to Cuba with 1ujal in the past, and it served Mujal and the Batista
tyranny with its propaganda and statements during the difficult period of the
struggle for the establishment of revolutionary power. It is that OMIT, with labor
leaders who are submissive to Yankee imperialists, paid fabulous wages, traitors, and
utterly corrupt, which now, obedient to the orders of the State Department, agrees to
join the campaign to prevent the arrival in Cuba of food, medicine, machinery, raw -.
materials, and whatever our country needs and requires, from abroad for its normal
life, its economic development, and its defense.
"The OBIT is discredited and dead." It has lost all Latin American' support, The
organizations on which it was based have left it, have been dissolved, or have been
,completely repudiated by the workers, It remains only where it has official support by
gorillas and reactionaries, as in Venezuela, Brazil, and Peru.
"The agreements it has adopted against Cuba will serve only to add to the disgrace of
its infamy and ignominy, to make it even more hated b,/ the Latin American working masses,
to increase the bill the workers of our countries will have to collect on the day of the
inevitable victory over those miserable Mujals who consuit-, the OBIT." In spite
of them, Cuban trade with the world will grow and its economy will develop faster
from year to year. :
