SHARP ATTACK IN THE SENATE

WELDON WALKER: "The new Director of the Central
Intelligence Agency, Richard Helms, came under sharp
attack in the Senate today. Helms was criticized for
praising a newspaper editorial that attacked Senator
J. William Fuibright as crafty.
"Helms lauded the editorial in a letter pub-
lished in the St. Louis Globe Democrat Wednesday. It
voiced his pleasure in having read an editorial critical
of Fuibright's effort to bring the CIA under surveillance
of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee."
