William M. Wheeler Jr., 52,
a specialist in Latin American
affairs for the Central Intel-
ligence Agency, died Sunday
in Georgetown University
Hospital of a heart ailment.
A 1035 graduate of Yalel
University and- a 1938 lawl
graduate of the University of
California at Berkeley, Mr.t
Wheeler worked for the FBI
and the Department of De-
fense from 1940 to INC He
was a 1945 winner of the Med-
al of Freedom.
In 1954 he joined the
Foreign Service division of
the Department of State and
served in Brazil, Portugal and
Spain before transferring to
the CIA in 1960 as a senior
executive officer.
- He lived at 6804 Algonquin '
ave., Bethesda.
