HAIRY K. SMITH: "An official of the Central Intelligence
Agency is under investigation for possible violation of security
regulations. Hans Tofte of the 1600 block of 35th Street, N.W.,
put his house up for sale earlier this summer. And unknown to
Tofte, another CIA employee, Kenneth Slookum, inspected that
house as a potential buyer. Well, Slockum noticed some class-
ified documents in one room of the house, reported that apparent
infraction of security rules to security officials of the-CIA,
who later went to Tofte's home and took the material into oust-
ody.
"Well, now, Tofte says that $19,000 worth of jewels belong-
ing to his wife are missing from his home."
