American women Are `Eclectic'
CPYRGHT By Rosemary Donihi
U. S. WOMEN take heart!
Luigi Racca, Italian desk
man for the C. I. A. agrees
that American men are won-
derful for business conver-
sations but enthusiastically
asserts that "American wo-
men ah, they are ., eclectic!"
(which according to Mr. Web-
ster means . . . those choos-
ing what is best from various
sources il of systems') and
therefore most interesting
companions for general con-
versation.
"I prefer to -talk socially
with American women- be-
cause they can talk about so
very much," he said.
Racca was one of the
guests at the very happy
party given last evening by
Italian Air Attache, Col.
Luigi Violante and Mrs.
Violante at their l6th at. nw.
home.
Among the many, many
representatives of the var-
ious military and diplomat-
ic services in attendance.
the Finnish seemed to think
their problem was the most
socially ?evere: t'Lyy'tinen,
(First Secretary), Laitinen
,(Attache) _or Leinonen (Mili.
tary, Air and Navaf Attache)

According to Mrs. Paavo
Laitinen, wife of the Attache

similarity are not a>i all
likely to be found in *:simi-
larly small group at'.home.
To date, Col. Lelnonen's
wife fares best. on the tea
party end of things because
her husband's- military title
quickly, and relatively dis-
tinguishos her from all the
rest.
GUESTS AT the party,
which boasted any number
of buffet specialties equally
as interesting as that deli-
ciously cold, sliced Steak
Chateaubriand, were Italian
Minister, Carlo Perrone-Ca-
pano: the Chief of the Span.
ish Military Mission, Brig.
Gen. Benito Miranda and
Senora de Miranda, and Lt.
Gen. Umberto de Martino,
Chief of the Italian 'Military
Mission, and Mrs. 'artino.
Air Commodore Haider
Raza and Mrs. Raza of Paki-
stan had as their touring
house guest, recently arrived
from London, John Con-
cellis, director of the Educa-
tional Interchange Counsel.
Concellis says he feels
quite British, "Now that my
family have been Dutch im-
migrants there some 300
years."
Secretary to host Violante,
Mrs. Theodore Caruso, and
\'Ir. Caruso have decided
against having a "Jr." in the
family and have instead
named their four-month-
old infant "Alessandro," so
that he may quick become
"A leader among men."
Mrs. Caruso, born in Man-
tua, Italy, was enchanted
last night to discover that
there were those presen
familiar with the Shake
