Mr. McCarthy was stationed in Burma, China and India during his CIA career. A veteran of World War 11, he served in Southeast Asia as a sergeant, and was awarded the Bronze Star medal. A native of Butte, Mont., Mr. McCarthy attended Carroll College, Helena, Mont., and was graduated from George Wash- ington University here.
