Approved For Release 2000/05/05: CIA-RDP75-00001 R000200200115-7 STEPHEN J. SPINGARN COMMISSIONER July 20, 1951 Col. C. B. Hansen Assistant to the Director Central Intelligence Agency Washington 25, D. C. Dear Col. Hansen: Thank you for making the arrangements for Mr. Kirkpatrick to speak at the CIC convention.. I am confident from what you say that he will do a better job than almost any of the nationally known figures whom we had hoped to get (we have always gotten them in the past, but things seem to be tough all over this year). In your absence I took the liberty of getting in touch directly with Mr. Kirkpatrick after I learned from your assistant that arrangements had been made for him to speak at our convention. As I told him, the speech is scheduled for a lunch to be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Hotel Hollenden in Cleveland on Saturday, August L{.. We hope that Mr. Kirkpatrick will reach the Hotel Hollenden not later than 12:00 noon that day. The hotel is the CIC convention head- quarters, and when he reaches there he should contact either Mr. Arthur Stitt, Uhairman of the Board of Governors of the National CIC Association, or Mr. James Broz, President of the C)e veland CIC Club, which is hosting the convention. I will also be out there for the convention (and incidentally I am bringing a special message to the convention from Presi- dent Truman). If Mr. Kirkpatrick wishes to be met at the airport or station, I should be notified as to his time of arrival and I will make the necessary arrangements. Otherwise, he can proceed directly to the hotel and there contact one of the two men I have named. There will be a room at the hotel at Mr. Kirkpatrick's disposal. Please le t me know if Mr. Kirkpatrick needs any further information on this matter and, in any event, I should appre- ciate being advised as to when he will arrive in Cleveland and how long he expects to be there. We would be delighted Approved For Release 2000/05/05: CIA-RDP75-00001 R000200200115-7 `-Approved For Release 2000/05/05: CIA-RDP75-00001 R000200200115-7 to have him as our guest overnight if he wishes, or he can leave immediately after the luncheon if that is more con- venient, Sincerely, S~h J 5~~.~~anti Stephen J.
