Lawrence Reid Houston
Was born on 4 January 1913 in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Jean
Weliford Randolf on 14 June 1939. She was born on 2 February 1918 in Char-
lottsville, Virginia. They hsve two children: a son, David Lawrence, born
in 1947, and a daughter, Debra Jean, born in 1945.
Mr. Houston received Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Harvard in
1935. Received LLB from University of Virginia Law School, 1939. He was
admitted to the New York State Bar in June 1942. In September 1939 and until
February 1943 he was engaged in private law practice with White & Case, 14 Wall
Street, New York. He went into the Army in March 1943 and was assigned to OSS
in 1944 initially as Assistant General Counsel and then as General Counsel.
In 1946 he remained with SSU as a civilian in the capacity of. General Counsel
which he has since held for CIG and CIA.
In 1957 Mr. Houston was awarded CIA Intelligence Medal of Merit for out-
standing service. In 1952 he took some special courses at Georgetown Law School.
In 1953 he went through Advanced Management Program at Harvard.
