C. 20301 MINUTES OF TACTICAL WARNING/ATTACK ASSESSMENT TASK FORCE MEETING The second meeting of the Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment Task Force of the Defense Science Board convened at 1015, 13 September 1972 in the Pentagon under the chairmanship of Mr. Fred A. Payne. The agenda and list of attendees are shown on Enclosures 1 and 2. The "expanded outline" of the Task Force report furnished by the Chairman was accepted and assignments were made for "filling out" the outline. The members are to furnish their inputs by 1 October directly to the Chairman who will compile them into a draft report. The draft report will be mailed to the members for their perusal before the next meeting. It was decided that the group required further information in the following areas: (1) Warning of bombers and SLCM; (2) Warning of SLBM; (3) Ocean surveillance, and (4) technical intelligence systems. Briefings and tours will be scheduled by OASD(I) to satisfy this requirement. The next meeting will be at the end of October, probably at the Naval Intelligence Support Center, Suitland, Maryland.
