MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Mr. -'s Memo dated 5 April 1971:
Motorized Shelving at Army Map Service 25X1A5a1

1. As suggested in Mr. _'s memo, Mr. Don Abbott, Army
Topographic Command was contacted 20 April.
25X1A9a 2. Mr. Abbott was asked if he would elaborate on the problem
they are having with the installed at his facility.
3. Mr. Abbott indicated that the problem as mentioned in
Mr. _ 's memo was not in the gear ratio, or gear box, but was
found to be, in the chain pulley at one end of the system. Mr. Abbott
stated that there was a popping or crackin noise when the chain
was travelling in one direction. was contacted and when
he visited the jobsite found that the chain pulley on one end was not
level with the pulley located at the motor drive. The problem was
corrected by shimming the pulley assembly. Mr. Abbott stated that one
section had been repaired to date and repair did remove the noises.
