Delivered to Senator John Stennis a letter to him as Chairman of the Select Committee on Standards and Conduct on the Senator Dodd case explaining :ow we were approached by Senator Dodd's people to furnish information about Agency cooperation with Senator Dodd prior to his Germany trip. The Senator was appreciative of having the background on this and felt this was an appropriate way to handle the matter. 2. Talked briefly with Senator Stuart Symington concerning the Senate vote yesterday. He indicated-that at a very early date he would like to talk in more detail with me and with the Director. 3, Talked with Representative Glen Lipscomb who requested that I cnecK to ascertain if there was any unclassified information regarding shipping from Czechoslovakia to North Vietnam. I said I would look into this and advise. 4, Talked with Bob Michaels, House Appropriations Committee staff, who inquired if we had any contracts wit I also discussed with him the possibility of a portion of our budget being on a no-year basis. He expressed his reluctance to open up this question with the Subcommittee in the absence of strong and specific justification. We discussed possible middle grounds to accomplish the same purpose.
