and requested we send an Agency brochure to

2. I Dale Sutherland, in the office of
Senator Abraham Ribicoff (D. , Conn. ), called to request a map of
Yugoslavia.
Appropriations Committee staff, and confirmed the arrangements for
Mr. Preston's visit to the--fleadquarters building with Mr. Woodruff,
of the Senate Appropriations Committee staff, Tuesday morning,
9:00 a. m. , for briefing on the Agency budget. Mr. Preston asked if
I would have available for him on Tuesday the text of the Soviet
statements reported in this morning's New York Times concerning
the Soviet defense budget and whatever comment we might have on it.
I also briefed Mr. Preston on the following items: Mersa
Matruh; Foxbat deployment; ABM booster test; Soviet satellite
intercept testing; current situation in Ceylon, Bengali and East
Pakistan; Soviet P-Class submarines; ChiCom atomic installation;
Soviet ICBM silos; and Brezhnev and the 24th Party Congress.
4.1 1 Met with Mr. Frank Slatinshek, Assistant
Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, who told me the
briefing transcripts will be ready for return on Tuesday.
